The 2020 Chip Down Blues
The torture tune of trauma town
Rings in my midnight ear
To say to me when chips are down
All merriment will disappear...
When introverts, not the warrior,
Will be the ones that thrive
When city streets get gorier
As intubations survive...
More so than those who shriek and shout
In a rally or ugly crowd
With an unwitting spittle spout
Ever and anon too proud...
Since salvation comes, as you will see,
Packaged in humility.

She cocks her head and stares,
offers a paw in the air,
The paw is a word, the stare
a question, when the liquor
is drunk unchilled, they will stare

It’s time to wake up
Unplug yourself from the TV screen
You need to get up
And step away from the empty screams
You can’t just give up

Doesn’t matter how much your soul bleeds
