Reverse Phoenix (Eagles burn slow)
Don’t shield your eyes now
The art has just begun to spread
The sirens are loud, and the colors are bright
The warmth that you tried to extinguish lives.
Don’t shield your eyes,
Don’t shield them now.
Look at the ashes that dance in the air,
Look at our smiles,
Puke at our freedoms
While we’re drunk off your despair.
Don’t close your eyes,
Your pain is my drug.
I want to feel intoxicated again.
Feed me your lies,...

NYC 1963
The studio on 4th Street was the place they needed to be
Hope & determination was in their minds, that they can change society
They were considered the outcasts outside of their community
Songs being created in Greenwich Village that weren't so rare
Strings being strummed by poets, ideas to influence others
It began with Woodie Guthrie and exploded with Bob Dylan
In the evening, the beatniks and the long haired girls came too
Coffee shops heard their words
And when the next day came they took action
The blue collared army

do you like pie?
do you remember the
last time you had a
great slice of pie
or,
where you had that
great slice of pie
like in some art deco,
silver streak train
car diner
the one with the
stools that spun
sitting in front of
the counter
the diner with a Tuesday
night blue plate special
a diner where lonely
old men would eat,
men so old that the space
between one heart beat
and the next...

when I was eight
my father courage started at
the neck of a bottle of vodka
and finished in its puck
I learned early in life that
what an alcohol fears most
is an empty well
he always said to me,
"Remember, you don't
have friends, only acquaintances.
you can't ever trust anyone."
RIGHT...
so I stopped trusting him
and life, although full of bullshit,
at times, has offered me enough
flowers to reap a garden or two
take that you drunken...

Time
She’s an elusive mistress
You can never find her
She runs away from you so very fast
leaving you looking ahead only to find you wish you could go back
Pain and joy intertwined like silk threads
Flittering and flashing randomly
You’re left wanting more
She’ll never give it to you
Your dance with her is brief
Savour it.

Letter To You
I am writing a letter today.
For a person I used to know by name.
I am writing to see if you are well.
I hope I find you happy,swell.
Let me write this letter in ink.
I'll stamp it and begin to think.
Maybe this letter will find you one day.
Years later,on a sunny day.
Maybe you will read my cursive and smile.
And remember our memories, that lasted a while.
I'm gonna add in cursive ink.
I'll stamp it in a blink.
I'll add in all my love and appreciation.
For our friendship,a whole another nation.

Beach Memories
It was a hot,summer day.
Sun shining,problems at bay.
There was sounds of laughter.
The way the sun felt on my skin.
And I forget all problems I've been.
There were kids digging holes.
Sandcastle contests,people pose for pictures.
To keep as a memory of today.
This sunny,warm summer day.
I wore a swimsuit in blue.
I sunbathed,a red hue.
I were under some shade with a book.
And I would take a look at the water.
The sand,next to my father.
I remember when I was a kid.

you didn’t call.”
sorry, I thought you’d be out.
“sorry?
this isn’t the nineteen seventies,
you’ve got a phone in
your pocket.”
and a head somewhere else ..

Bring you back home
Dreamed 'bout you last night
Beauty bowed at your feet
Angels looked at you with envy
God's masterpiece personified
We had time on our side
Living free without a care
No future to think and plan for
No burdens to bare
I held you in the cool autumn nights
Sitting in the back of my truck
Wondering what I did
To deserve such luck
We danced through golden fields
Barefoot we waded in the creek
Both waiting for the other
To say how we truly felt
But time betrayed us ...

Blood Sucking Bugs
Flies annoy and Bzz Bzz Bzz around,
as long as there's garbage they'll always be found
One year as a kid I killed two flies
Placed them in my brother's burger,
devoured, with some shoe string fries
I recall a kid who lived a few blocks away
The family was dirt-poor,
his home needed to be sprayed
Every time I saw him he was insanely scratching his head
His hair was greasy and wild,
fingertips looked bloody red
I later found out that he was carrying lice
Filthy family they were,
house was inundated with mice

Bliss
Swimming through sunbeams
Just trying to reach infinity for you
Flying with whispered wind
Feeling a little low
Knowing that you know
I grow transparent with every
Saturated spill of words
Babble is all that comes through
As my awe for you grew
"Would you like to dance?"
Is all my stunted stupid self
Could muster to such a beautiful girl
I turn to walk myself into rejection
When a quiet "sure" permeated and
Drowned the dazing music to exile
A flirtatious smile sent me high into
The heavens,...
