Juno's Juno
I walked out on Capitol Hill,
my pant suit cut like pastrami
on rye: thin slices to make a wad,
the meat piled and cradled in the bread.
I spoke for all the dead
women to that male assembly,
Minerva by my side and even Jupiter
respectful of our turn to speak.
I didn't know he'd raped again.
The chairman Zeus laughed at us when
we said that each woman,
just as a man is blessed with genius,
is gifted with juno.
'She thinks herself a gift!' he roared.
'Does Io think herself adored
now that...

Grim Reaper
On three occasions the three sudden brake failures, I had driven a car..
Might as well help in permanently leaving my brain door ajar..
Keeping my later thoughts as well as understanding of things and situations consistently afar..
Don't know bout you, but for me this is the wildest I ever saw yet in my dreams..
My silent screams..
What follows?..
Bucket of tears I shed turned into a stream..
Ending in a never ending cycle with my violent screams..
This dim light I look up at..
Will it shimmer?...

summer Storms: Prologue
I thought I had everything. I thought I could trust those closest to me. Everything I thought I knew, was wrong. It was just oh so wrong. I had a family who loved me, friends who adored me. I did well in school, kept to myself, worked hard at a job I loved. It was during the summer of my high-school graduation where my life literally turned upside down. I went from being ‘normal’ (or whatever the closest thing to ‘normal’ was) to something else entirely.
My family wasn’t poor; in fact we were well off. Not only were we well off, but we were all close. Something that was uncommon. My...

Kokopelli on America
Kokopelli on America
Kokopelli’s flute dawns on sundial scarabs
Who cling to blue corn husks
Deep in beetled discography
Of petaled birth rites
In grottos where frogs are citizens
Where hopscotch is made of butter
That melts into candy crucifixes

Clones and Kings
clones are sitting on thrones
wearing crowns made of aluminum
kings are cowering in the corner,
as the script is flipped
I've seen kings and clones
playing war games with toy soliders
speaking with forked tounges
like a cobra dances, waiting to strike
arrows bounce of the castle walls
O' hear their ambiguous cries
as the phonograph spins a dirge
singing songs of kings and clones
O' hero lying in a pile of the slain
cutting through the gristle
clones feast upon flesh, like trolls
kings pretend...

Homeric
Oh to live the life Homeric
The earth not walked but strode upon
By heroes gallant and maidens fair
And claim now as in the days bygone
Above common courage, the heroic
Can common clay put on the higher
Break earthly shackles by which we're bound
And will indomitable daring wear
That voice in triumph and glory sound
Rousing others to such hope aspire
That this day should dawn majestic
Beneath brilliant skies or blackened storm
Whether fate or chance, either to dare
And in the malestorm of trial form ...

Ishtar Goes Hollywood
Ishtar Goes Hollywood
Ishtar arrives at a house that is renowned as the gateway to the world of the dead. She knocks on the door which cracks open, and Irkalla, Queen of the Dead, greets her with, “It is time to put our rivalry aside.”
Ishtar says, “The last time we met on earth in the chamber of the Babylonian oracle which seemed neutral enough. But you introduced me to the wonderful world of bondage just before the Priestess intervened in your sexual diplomacy.”

Pied Piper
heard him play his flute last night
calling to the children to dance
on the moors in a sliver of moonlight
his song floated across the valley
where the lillies do grow
in hypnotizing reedy monotone
rats litter the streets
far too many for a cats feast
floating on the wind like a song
from a lark
the minstrel holds the magic in his tune
listen closely child you'll be dancing
for him very soon

Ishtar on Saturday Night
Ishtar on Saturday Night
Fatima hopes to play Ishtar in a modern
adaptation of “The Epic of Gilgamesh.”
As instructed she will remove
an item of clothing
upon descent through each
of the seven gates of the underworld.
But at the last gate when she is naked
death doesn’t wait for her
but rather lovemaking
with the Lord of the manor.
Ishtar is the projectionist
in the underworld Saturday Night movies
and DJ for the adjoining dance hall
where even women can be whirling dervishes
and Sufi dancing...

Alice in Love
Alice in Love
The Hatter says, “Let me go pick the berries that release you from maidenhood into the full blossom of womanhood.”
She replies, “Make your merry way into the mushroom forest and find these magical fruits to untie my bonnet wherewith my hair to fall for your delight.”
The Hatter gaily wanders among the portobellos until he comes upon a lonely sunflower that smiles down like a beautiful queen who says, “Climb up my stalk and enjoy the breeze from above. The view is lovely too.” So the Hatter ascends the stem into the petaled rays. But the...

The Lost City
Deep into the distant past
A curious story was quietly cast
About a city lost under the sea
Hence Atlantis was born into mythology
And that peoples resided there-in
Breathing bubbles, with mermaid like fins
So a mystery came to be
Of a civilization, 'neath the sea
For hundreds of years, and more
Many have searched the depths of it's folk-lore
Yet so far, no evidence has yet been found
Of this mysterious city, sat upon a watery ground
by Jemia
