No big loss
Seymour Butts lived quietly at home with his mother in Nebraska. The 22 year old's social circle consisted mostly of friends with whom he visited daily via webcam on the internet. While drinking vodka and smoking pot one evening in 2002, his chat room buddies encouraged him to keep popping tranquilizers and other pills he had handy. Butt''s mother Shelly found him the next afternoon. She didn't notice anything out of the ordinary and spent the previous evening doing crossword puzzles in the next room.

Like Nothing Matters
I served a sentence of self imposed
exile because I couldn’t grow enough
to grasp the concepts of years of failures
fallouts and repeating cycles of mistakes
I’ve walked back in with hat-in-hand-contrition
too many times and it’s always been
with a pack of matches in my back pocket
because recovering pyromaniacs are worse
than drug addicts
every long winded apology and self exploratory
delve into stream of conscious delivered
new insights that led to dead ends and
falling into the same patterns
...

A Plastic Spoon for Matilda

I’m getting hungry
The day is already dragging
As you may or may not know from my last write titled "Early Morning Blues"
I open my large cooler
I pull out my jar of crunchy peanut butter and a ziplock bag of raisins and an assortment of nuts
I was looking forward to mixing the two together
But to my dismay, I forgot my spoon
SHIT!
Now I must take a walk to the cafeteria
I entered the cafeteria for the 1st time in over 5 years
Nothing has changed
I noticed immediately the smell of...

An Explosive Pizza
Pizza deliveryman Mike Rotchburns was as dependable as he was predictable. His daily routine was invariable and he was never in trouble with the law. In 2012, while standing outside the bank he just robbed, he told police officers surrounding him that he had been kidnapped by three people and coerced into committing this crime. A simple pipe bomb was elaborately locked around his neck. Rotchburns begged police to let him go because the kidnappers had set the bomb to go off minutes after the well planned robbery. During a 1960 KKK initiation ritual in the deep south, Eaton Beaver fired several shots into the air. Perhaps not fully grasping the concept of gravity, he never considered that what goes up must come down. The descending bullet struck fellow Klansman Harry Azcrac in the head, wounding him critically.

Last night at a party somewhere
These guys were beer-bonging at a party last night
This one guy was shotgunning a beer and didn't know that someone had put bleach in it
He swallowed the beer & bleach right down
He hit the floor and went into convulsions
The guy who did it was 5 blocks away by that time
He did it because he thought the guy had ripped off his brother's skateboard!

I try to keep them in, but they spill out eventually
