Little Johnny Hall
I’ve learned there is NO WINNING in this life
Whether there's an existing trace of peace or a strife.
See Little Johnny Hall crying in the corner because his daddy’s gone
See me hiding scared under the bed for hours and hours long
Wishing MY own daddy gone!
What’s wrong with Little Johnny who cries and cries for his dad?
How LUCKY is Little Johnny who never saw him mad!
He cries and cries for days and months without relent or end ...

How I Feel After They Demolished It
Those memories of
a happy childhood are dead
and buried with that old house.

They're Not The Only Ones Still Waiting For The Other Shoe To Drop
Uncle
George had just
died and
left his house to Mark

on the condition
that they
stay there for
one year.

the NorthSouth ballad
i guess i like it here,
warm, bright, and yellow tunes are everywhere!
it’s upbeat and catchy, and everyone sings along,
a very good song, fun and monophonic.
we’re singing so fast, though, that I'm struggling to breathe.
is it hot down here?
i’m sweating more than everyone else.
i’d like to listen to something different now…
i’ve been up there before too.
where the music is sundry and textured,
mysterious dissonance and moody melodies accompany the icy blue atmosphere.
the voices are glacial and layered, each...

Journal December
She wants the bite of slick country memories,
to drive over county lines, take that long hike
--
A place that greens far from dark whiskey,
another space foreseen she'd lose sense of time.
It's the hue of wide pine rows, the crag, small leat
that leaks from aloft and bleeds off a hill.
It's the ache after walking,
the weight of her kit,
the scent of still mist
evaporating from land.
It's the quiet, an ice
that kisses each freckle
and reminds still muscles
to be steady but roam.

Big city
I live in a big city
But on a quiet little street
Where not much happens
Day to day
I feel kind of insulated from the nasty stuff
That goes on day after day
Just around the corner
Oh sure we've had our share
Of trouble and crime
Even here in my quiet little house
But just a break in or two
Not much when you consider
The murder and mayhem
That a big city engenders
I feel lucky and bored at the same time
I can understand the luckiness I feel
But the boredom worries me a little
I don't want any of that big...

he’s thinking
tried to hurry home, but the train was late and, being lame, he could hardly walk, and he couldn’t find a cab, and as for all her talk about leaving if he stayed out late again drinking ..
he tried to phone, but the reception wasn’t great
when he got home

Rooster Rhyming Rhetoric
One summer I was in my pool when a rooster arrived
Two doors down he would crow with pride
In my town, it's illegal to own
Constantly crowing, I picked up the phone
Authorities came, the owner was fined
Situation continued, nothing rectified
Endless noise throughout the year
How much more will I need to hear?
Every morning he woke me up around five
One day I paid a visit, shot him, and he died
Two doors down he would crow with pride
In my town, it's illegal to own
Constantly crowing, I picked up the phone
Authorities came, the owner was fined
Situation continued, nothing rectified
Endless noise throughout the year
How much more will I need to hear?
Every morning he woke me up around five
One day I paid a visit, shot him, and he died

A New Type Of Dirty Old Man
Brody saw Vanessa go into the barn
before he heard screams which made him rush into that
barn and find her stripped naked and raped due to
his late uncle whose own spirit is still restless.
