Trying To Fit In
I was walking down the street.
With friends and people I meet.
I could hear laughter.
I could hear chatter.
But I wasn't a part of it.
I got closer,trying to join.
But something felt different.
Even though I'm among my peers.
I feel different.
Like I am from another planet,another species.
Hoping,that somebody will join.
As if I am far different.
Even though,I'm not.
I'm a human being.
So why do I feel like this?
I feel myself slipping away.
My soul wandering away,but my body...

I find sunflowers beautiful.
The way they look at the sun.
And their bright,yellow color.
As the sun shines on them
Caressing their petals.

But you feel somebody's hand brush against yours.
The feeling of an old friend's hand.
You look up,to see who it is.
And you recognize that smile.
A smile,so warm.
So friendly,with no harm.
You call out their name.
And they call out yours.
As you share a warm embrace.

Cendra had an unusual last name
Skin shades darker than mine
Parents years older than most.
No siblings.
She was confident and self-assured.
Additional qualities I found exotic.
I liked being around her.
Her 11th (12th?) birthday was at Gooney Golf
There was a giant dinosaur at the entrance.
The last hole was an igloo.
Even if you missed, it captured your ball at the end.
