Poems about Fire
#fire
Beauty and danger, poems about fire use flames and fire as inspiration, warmth, fantasy and metaphor in poetry.
Fire!
I slept and woke to pounding!
People outside screamed, "FIRE!"
We had no smoke detectors.
There were five of us in the house!!!
The smoke was thick.
Isn't that what usually kills people?
I was only 13. Mom was drunk.
The others...my siblings.
We had just moved in here.
Our Aunt had evicted us.
Jimmy was hiding in Florida.
We were dead broke!
Now we might be dead!
I don't remember the first fire...
When I was 2 months old.
Mom had left me alone.
Neighbors saved me.
Mom was...

Torn For Eternity
Take your place within the fire
Let the flames consume and churn
They feed upon your mortal desire
Reducing souls to ash for an urn
The image of life begins to fade
Flickering shadows of the past
Skin peels as fire’s blade is laid
A tormenting burn to forever last
Opulence born of human pride
Meets its end at the threshold’s flare
Under burning wrath, no sins can hide
Cleansing flames lay the spirit bare
Lost to heat in a foreign sphere
Where the damned and broken are wed
The air reeks thick of sulphurous...
Let the flames consume and churn
They feed upon your mortal desire
Reducing souls to ash for an urn
The image of life begins to fade
Flickering shadows of the past
Skin peels as fire’s blade is laid
A tormenting burn to forever last
Opulence born of human pride
Meets its end at the threshold’s flare

Four Elements - A Paraphrase
There are four elements in this world
I think upon how beautiful three of them are
But the fourth, just as lovely
I cannot touch with my full understanding
The way of an eagle in the air as it swims through the canyon
The way of the snake on the ground as it flies from my sight
The way of a ship upon the water as it gives itself to the wind
The way of a man with the flame as he gives himself to a woman
Paraphrase of Proverbs 30:19

Shaped by Shadow, Touched by Flame
Beneath the heavens rent with crimson flare
Where wrathful fire danced a searing hymn
I stood amidst the blaze my spirit bare
And felt its touch consume me, limb by limb
Yet lo, the shadows coiled with dark embrace
Their whispered counsel deepened in my soul
They carved their mark a labyrinthine trace
And bade me rise anew complete and whole
O fire, thou art a cruel and mighty forge
Yet shadows craft the edges flame doth miss
Where searing tongues of gold and ember gorge
The shade bestows its fatal and silent kiss
...

I stood amidst the blaze my spirit bare
And felt its touch consume me, limb by limb
Yet lo, the shadows coiled with dark embrace

Hellfire and Black Thunder
Above the field where flames do writhe
The heavens roar in tempest's might
A baleful wrath, both fierce and blithe
Cleave the shroud of endless night
The embers dance as a frenzied choir
As tongues of hell their torches raise
While thunder's drum, a voice of ire
Resounds across the starless haze
Charred expanse, a scarred domain
Lies drenched in hues of molten red
Where shadow’s kin and ash remain
In solemn pact with the dread overhead
No mortal eye such sights may bear
Nor soul endure the vengeful gale ...

No Title.
I ran from the burning stones,
For it had never felt like home.
I ran till I found a place to lay my bones,
I found a home,
Resting alone,
No light to expose its ruins.
I let my flame touch its torches,
But instead, I set the home on fire,
And as I watched it burn,
The words in my head turned:
Child of ember,
You can never escape the ashes.
For it had never felt like home.
I ran till I found a place to lay my bones,
I found a home,
Resting alone,
No light to expose its ruins.
I let my flame touch its torches,
But instead, I set the home on fire,
And as I watched it burn,
The words in my head turned:
Child of ember,
You can never escape the ashes.

He wants your attention
Little boy left for hardly 10 minutes
The sitter had gone to the store for some cigarettes and soda
When she returned she saw the fire engines in front of the house
She saw the smoke & flames
She found out that the little boy she was babysitting had lit his little brother's crib on fire
The baby was burned to death
He used the matches she had left on the table
He had heard that the only child gets more attention from the parents
With more love & extra dessert
He was only looking out for number one

Putting a log in my fire
As I picked up a log for the fire.
Opening the door I looked in and saw in.
Before me was a view to describe.
Entranced I stared before me. glowing embers of fire.
Space i spied for my log to go.
Feeling the breeze, felt the glow of the heat.
The way the log were positioned.
The flames all aglow, looked like a city on fire.
Incandescent Crimson and Red like inside of hell.
Or when hell comes to dinner.
Fire , fire everywhere. Walls and buildings a blase
No escape from this. And you known it!
Yet this nightmare...

Separation
Settling lights
We see a few
Shining out like a beacon
Overly stark….in the impenetrable dark
Longing to be there
A thousand miles separates us
Hearts shatter, as in a car crash
You look elsewhere in desperation
I’m aware of our alienation
We light a fire
Burning the last of our hope
You stand perfectly still
I stare not knowing how to feel
The flames lick angrily, ready to steal
So, this gestates until it’s all I know
Now, whenever I come to you, I understand we can...
We see a few
Shining out like a beacon
Overly stark….in the impenetrable dark
Longing to be there
A thousand miles separates us
Hearts shatter, as in a car crash
You look elsewhere in desperation
I’m aware of our alienation
We light a fire
Burning the last of our hope

Night Storm
In houses and amongst cabin campfires
Churning deep within the flames
Embers of burning desire
Pop crackle
Spark into the air
Heat through the chute
Natural midnight flares
Fireflies in the night
Beneath the moonlight glare
Before air steam gather burst
Electric air
Wind becoming into one
Dark cloud
Cold wind falling air
Rain pounds the ground
Trickling into the cracks
The summer nights tempest wrath soon gone
The only trace but a mean wet reflective glare
Churning deep within the flames
Embers of burning desire
Pop crackle
Spark into the air
Heat through the chute
