#death
The broad subject of death, including grief and memorial poems when losing a loved one. Also concepts around death in wider society, fear of dying and what happens after we die. These poems may be dark and full of sorrow.

Before I Wake
Black is my heart
I wake with a start
From nightmares so sweet
Wish I could return
To work I depart
To practice my art
I might find a treat
A victim to burn
I'll set body aflame
No face and no name
You're merely a doll
Meant to keep me enthralled
What's left when I'm done?
Blackened remains, I'm stunned
From the odor I run
This method, no fun
Next I'll try a mallet
Should satisfy my...

Tomorrow is not Promised
You hope you wake up this morning
But today is not promised to us
So if you wake up live balls out
Because you never know where it ends
Twist and turn as the blue marble spins around
Your tiny apartment in queens
You’re living out life because you can breathe
And you’re not pushing up petals
So give it all you’ve got you can’t take it with you
Live every second like it’s you’re last breath
Because tomorrow is not promised
You lay your head down and hope you get up
For tomorrow is not...
But today is not promised to us
So if you wake up live balls out
Because you never know where it ends
Twist and turn as the blue marble spins around

You’re living out life because you can breathe

Is there a GOD
I’m standing in line at the children’s graveyard
I look for my lost son and my beautiful wife
Stand among the most inhumane condition
But im looking for family to set me free
See a sneaker that looks like his
Pull up a rock I’ve found my buried son
Dig like a dog you cant stop me
When i get to him he’s not breathing
I wail out and scream and say is there a GOD
If there is i cant see him
I look for my lost son and my beautiful wife
Stand among the most inhumane condition
But im looking for family to set me free
See a sneaker that looks like his

The Final Divulgence
During that dead silent morning
We weren't informed, there was no warning
The initial revelation
Of an alien invasion
Created a stir in the nation
Threatening confrontation
No escape, from any location
People ailing from starvation
Beings exploit our creation
Resulting in death, or some mutation
Aliens performing amputations
Everywhere lies excessive devastation
Suicidal conformation
Someone save us from salvation
The Final Divulgence

Bobby
Bobby's head fell off...
our beloved classmate.
Bobby's head fell off...
leaving him quite dead.
Bobby's head fell off...
all they ever told us!
Bobby's head fell off...
never to be in class again.
Bobby's head fell off...
we can't...we won't tell you how!
Bobby's head fell off...
no story in the news!
Bobby's head fell off...
the details are too horrific!
Bobby's head fell off -
BUT ISN'T THAT HORRIFIC?

Vomit flesh on your sagging breasts
The two of them are in the bathtub
They grope at each other
Their weak, sagging flesh
Stinking gas comes from their genitalia
The water turns black
They kiss
They vomit into each other's mouths
The flesh hangs from their bones as they grab
He grabs at the rotting breast
Come lover, let's go to bed
Spiders crawl out of her snatch
They want to fuck so bad they can taste it in each other's mouths
They are fucking like pigs
They do it with the lights off, so they won't be mutually disgusted by the sight of their flesh

Back to Michigan
They say you can't go back...
cause it won't be the same...
be it a job, relationship or a hometown -
unless you return in a box...like my daddy.

back to his small town birthplace.
I don't know if the town had changed
in the years Dad had been gone...
as I had never been there before...
he had moved to a bigger city after Vietnam.

Sinking Ships
My heart stopped for one-thousandth of a second
resuscitated by chimes of St Thomas Church,
peeling hope from eternal tides.
We became the rainfall
sluicing across bows of burly tankers
lost in the Atlantic dark.
We wrote our names in sand
holding still in our time,
before clocks crashed from harbour gallows.
Building ships, forever,
or so it seems,
when we should be diving for pearls.

The Deadly Bookcase
After her sister & mother haven't heard from Chrissy for several days, her family reported the petite 31 year old missing. Fifteen days after filing the missing persons report, the mother & sister noticed a foul odor in the house. Following their noses, they found Chrissy wedged behind a 6-foot bookcase. She had fallen headfirst and became trapped behind the bookcase when she tried to adjust her television set, which sat on the top shelf.

Draws Down, Face Up
A homeless man in New York found a manhole in the Bronx that was just out of the way enough to offer him some privacy, so he routinely used it as a toilet. One day he lost his balance and was found dead at the bottom of the sewer. Draws down, face up.

To My Mother at New Year's
On the phone, my father
urges me to remember you.
I remember your anger,
the luminous swell
of your outdated,
blond beehive;
your cold opulence,
how everything you touched
turned beautiful.
How you smelled of Giorgio,
the gorgeous handwriting
on your envelopes.
In every room,
an elegant vase of flowers,
petals and ivy descending
in perfect patterns;
luxurious dresses
you created yourself.
How I could never fit
into your constellations
of perfection...
urges me to remember you.

Tempting Death
When I’m loathing life’s vinyl,
Held in the palms of tender hands,
There, in my darkest corners
He lured me to the pit with bait.
Swept off my feet with a spell,
Submissive to his sweet enticement
Enthralling me with ease,
Drawn to the taste of cate.
Blinded by hypnosis,
An enticing silk to veil my eyes,
Seeing only his annihilating beauty,
Wrecked, he took my sight.
With his dulcet words,
Seducing me to the edge,
Drunk on this curse
Of how tempting death felt.
