Sunrise
sparkling, shimmering, rainbow light
glistening, glimmering dispels night
twilight, predawn, soon to come
in the sky a golden sun
water vapour in the air
intensifying colours where
microscopic prisms split
white light into every bit
every possibility
in everything that we can see
crimson fades to infrared
ultraviolet looms ahead
ever brighter as we turn
with the Earth to yearn and yearn
for tomorrow and yesterday
to disappear, to go away
every moment in empty space
we are filled with...

I see the sun o’er fields of gold,
As it rose in days of old,
When, perfumed, the leaves silently fell,
And Truth was too great a burden to tell.
What brought sailing to this poison sky
The woe and illness of goodbye?
A shadow has passed for he who grieves
With tears of dew bejeweling the leaves
In the wind where once they were seen,
In echoes of the worlds that lie between
What is, what was, and what never shall be,
All I once held passes silently.
What becomes of their flesh and bone
As I view...

Brace Yourself (A Journey in Automatic Writing)
Brace yourself for impact,
Soon we'll be crashing,
Into something previously unforeseen
But, it's okay,
If you keep your wits about you,
It's just to test your latent abilities
For, they will arise,
From the depths of the mind
When the time does arrive
To reveal your potential
So, brace for impact
And know just up ahead,
You will know why we fell to this world
And as a matter of fact,
There are no facts at all
When we write our own rules,
By which we all must follow
...

A dawning elixir (the umpteenth Ode in my never ending series)
Waiting for the sun
to come out and play
gathering my strength
to fight through the day
My dark super hero,
right at my side
whose energy I siphon,
fueling my stride
A knowing smile slowly curls
the corners of my mouth
as blood begins pumping
from north and then south
Black dispositions lighten,
along with the dawn
my savior's prepared me,
the game is now on
As the sky dances with beauty
the colorful playtime a delight
I softly cradle my coffee
My loyalest companion of...

The Friend in Morning
When I come outside I see the morning,
the birds are singing, sorrily
— there is a train rolling
through the East bottoms,
Since four o'clock,
the rooster across the alley,
he's been up and crowing,
The wind chimes I can hear,
Marmaton around the corner
playing his banjo from the balcony,
He stands for, Friend, come here.
I was named after a river,
and the grey clouds rolling in, you can see,
is where the promised rain is kept.
I've lived a long and far journey,
Friend, listen to...

anew.
.. then...
the sun rose,
burning it all away
silent bursts
of
magical exquisite
nothing else mattered.

the lonely ship
The lonely ship
Crossing the Pacific Ocean and into The Indian Ocean
is tiresome even for a ship, days of calm bloody water
we have been abandoned.
It is beautiful but, it is like watching Mona Lisa for, say,
two months without getting fed up with the lady.
It lifts the spirit seeing another ship coming up of the horizon
in front of us; positioned near close enough to see the crew
wave or criticize the rust and colours.
Blue and yellow have they no taste!
It was enlivening we were able to talk and smile again lately
we had fallen...

morph'd into a promise of light
it's this time
the cracking of dawn
one foot in darkness
the other,
soon, a step into light
being of two realms
bridging another cold night
morphing into a hopeful warmth
feeling tendrils of sunshine
wanting to upturn
the corners of my mouth
the night still clings,
barely-
but still there
gossamer like gooseflesh
spreads over skin of alabaster fair
coffee in hand
smelling the sun's want of command
breathing in my mantra
exhaling out all of my sin
corners glow, now in lit...
