Secretive

I do collect them
seem to relive them
secrets kept hidden safe
secrets always buried deep
How I saved Christine's life
cheated with a kinky wife
with someone else's husband
always tried to drown my truth
Problems of my fractured youth
are always such a crutch
never reassure me much
but make for such good poetry ...

Always hanging by the water cool
that is where you find my libellule
unafraid to spread her gentle wings
she only prefers the poetic things
That she finds all along her way
also bold in the words she will say
a most cynical romantic
shudders at anything pedantic

Spanish for "Solitude"
A confessional poem so composed
I live in an exile self-imposed
joining the many multitude
within this, their crowded solitude

Inevitable
No matter which way I do go
I still seem never to know
which way I will turn
which new bridge I will burn
An arsonist returning to the crime
I seek to sneak in some rhyme
while tiptoeing through the ashes
from these bisexual clashes
Living in the here and now
yet always willing to again plow
the present completely under
as I rape, pillage and plunder
The normal order of things
betraying these wedding rings
just to have a little fun...
only to leave after it has begun
...

but so concealed

I still know not what love is
though I sought both hers and his
Confessions filling each page
every time I dare engage

I collect them all up
it seems
in my melancholy dreams
these gathered regrets
As if one ever forgets
all of the mistakes
all of the hesitations
of a meandering life
Not kissing Mary Conway
in second grade
then at sixteen sleeping with Danny D.
forever ... unprotected
All of these ghosts resurrected
such a haunting choir
lurking as a reminder
of sins spilled so easily
While I lay them out
end to end
still trying to pretend
I have somehow atoned
it seems
