Look at the end.
(C'mon pal, you can do it)
See how incredibly dead it is?
Sit here day after day, Essentially,
perma-house arrest
Never do any of the things
i loved. Tons of people eye'll never see.
Brooklyn, NYC, Oakland CA, Long Island. And
lest we forget...Kansas.
Never run on the beach again.
Life sentence.
True believers say i'll be reunited with my
deceased daughter, Leah Marie. I cannot believe such ...

he looked drunk or dead until he started to move and
the two of us ran towards him,
feeling heroic .
his hat fallen off his scarred head-
he got a skin cancer, see,
they're burning it out.
when he moved the blood poured from his nose
his cheekbone swelled purple
and his head was on my lap
first-aiders brought some antiseptic wipes
so now everybody was very concerned,
i suppose
his hearing aid lay in pool of bright red mucusy blood.
he tried to put it back in

Who The f**k Is That?
Walking past a mirror and having
to look twice.
Holy fuck, that's me.
Aging.
I often wonder what the world would be
like if sperm were limited instead
of eggs.
As women get older it's like someone
put a cloaking device in your body and
slowly but surely you begin to fade.
No one sees you anymore.
Tragically Invisible.
A ghost before death.
Someone pass me a syringe of
Botox, please.
to look twice.

“Now I Lay...”
All grown up
n’ no place to sow
Catalyst of intent
ebb n’ flow
Thru these thoughts
in n’ out I flee
Runnin’ ‘gainst
the current’s grind
Decomposin’ darkness’ scuff,
a ruff shine
Now, within four walls
recompense in
A truth risen
from bent shadows wince
One arrives,
in light... starkly all alone
Once a bein’ albeit gone,
on that path alone,
now familiar... is home.
n’ no place to sow
Catalyst of intent
ebb n’ flow
Thru these thoughts
in n’ out I flee
Runnin’ ‘gainst
the current’s grind
Decomposin’ darkness’ scuff,

Now, within four walls

Loner's 50th Birthday
Today is the
Loner's Birthday
He wants to enjoy
the women but
with all that is going on
he chooses to stay
safe in his bubble
He might be over the hill
and can't get it up
no more he might
need the blue pill or
Nugenix to get his
shit in order to
become the Incubus
he's meant to be
So Happy Birthday
To the Loner

Acceptance
Acceptance is the currency
the gold standard
of old age
of turning the page
On the aches and pains
the way life drains
with each passing day
each rising sun
Making each of us aware
as we grapple with despair
for the final reckoning
the final payment
Taking a deep breath
as if defying death
with each lung full
each rebellious inhalation
Reciting each prayer
each favorite rhyme
while still marking time
anticipating that final note

When Home Leaves You
I left home at eighteen, but I didn’t stray too far
Wasn’t quite ready to find myself, I was still just a child
Tried again at nineteen, took the path that many do –
Defending our country’s freedom, but I was still just a boy
The changes going on inside, they run deep and they run slow
What turns the boy into the man, we’ll never really know
One day you’re chasing lightning bugs on a sultry summer night
The next you’re chasing dreams as they fade slowly out of sight
..
..
I took some time at twenty-three to fall back and regroup

you must be kidding
can't recall who it was
who said the past
is another country, but it's the one I grew up in
