Mommy
I suspect that's what you want from me
stillness and resigned wait for your gaze
or the sound of your sinister breathing
when you are killing a chicken or rabbit
when you fill your hands with dirty red
irremovable, irremediable, intravenous
when you slowly remove fur and feathers
when you dismember very small beings
methodically, morbidly, histologically
you prepare and serve any sweet dinner
and so we eat everything you make calmly
and so you feed me from everything you do
and so I digest everything you put on the table

The Fortunate Morsel
Mother's Day 2016...Noon: A True Story.
Upon a May morning at breakfast
My lady dined on some scramblege of eggs.
Lovingly blent, so no longer fowl...
She then, with ease, enjoyed the repast.
Then from still drowsy lips fell unchewed dregs,
That stained her blouse and made her scowl.
"Why scowl?" quoth I. "Thy breast was but gently pressed".
Then she said she feared her raiment was wrecked
And tis true that's no way to start the day.
Then I, of the crises, wisely addressed...
"Blame not the morsel upon...

soon another war
Soon another year
The festivities are not over yet our animals have yet to be scared as they are when bombs fall in Gaza like the dead white horse in the road because a primitive Israeli
soldier kills anything that moves, obeying orders
I was once a recruit, learned to present arms with heavy German rifles, left over from a real war, and they didn't give us bullets to fire.
A trained young soldier is dangerous he has been given an order (perhaps unsaid but implicated ) to shoot first and ask questions later.
One takes it, for this soldier's background hatred...

Europe's cold heart
Evening storm, brown leaves, torn torn lose from
the mother tree blows heather and dither, if lucky, lands huddled in a backyard corner
I think of Macron, yes him, the president of France

Today's Europa
Flooding in Spain, the rain that didn't fall on the plain
spilt over in towns and cities mainly because fallen rain
had nowhere to go as so much ground was covered in asphalt and concrete.
The Western world's constant interfering in Middle Eastern countries has led to a flood of people from these
countries are knocking on Europa's door.

Mother's Day
The night before Mother’s Day,
he signed the blank
card and wrote a note before
placing it on mother’s pillow.
She was out, and we had
the house to ourselves.
I opened the note.
“Your daughter’s beauty is your gift to me.
As her mother, you’ve given much more than you should.
I’ll treasure her and am thankful for your trust.”
I signed the card and added,
“Thank you for my life.”
Then I placed the card back on mother’s pillow
before turning to unwrap myself as a...

Civilian casualty
All wars are bad, but wars can be stopped
if there is will seek peace, which there is not
the civilians in Ukraine must suffer more.
How many non-combatants are killed in this
Russian versus NATO and the USA we don’t know
but the number of dead seems relatively small
when so much has been bombed to destruction.
It appears to me that weekly, more
Palestinians are killed by the so-called IDF than
Ukrainian civilians.
But this toll is met with silence since Israel has
been sanctified by Brussels by no other than ...

A warning
National day, every country has one, when they are allowed
to wave their flags, get drunk, and indulge in latent xenophobia
When the people (otherwise kept in the dark) are allowed
to think they are the free people, the most democratic
the beautiful people in the whole world.
These free people, full of propaganda, not seeing they are sold
down the river to the encroaching fascism in Europe
This country that wants to see a green and pleasant land
wants to eradicate petrol-driven cars and replace them
with electric-driven cars...

She rises before the sun
her day has just begun
with chores and tasks to do
her love, she'll always pursue
From her children's smiles to her husband's touch
her heart is filled with love so much
no task too great, no distance too far
her love shines bright like a star
Her days are filled with busyness
with hardly a moment of idleness
yet she always finds the time
to show her love, so pure and kind
Her dedication knows no end
to family, she'll always tend
always there to lend a hand
or a shoulder on...

Mother's Day, 2023
If people ask me if you're still alive, my answer will be no.
You became sick and left this world over ten years ago.
Since you died, eleven Mother's Days have come around.
You had an abdominal aneurysm and you're buried in the ground.
You lived and died in Sneedville, Tennessee.
You were special and very important to me.
I had to learn how to live without you when you passed away.
If you were still alive, I would wish you a happy Mother's Day.
You became sick and left this world over ten years ago.

grandamas, aunts, sister, cousins even neighbors
