HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
HISTORY
The celebrating of Mother's Day
can be traced back to ancient Greece
and the celebration of the Goddess Rhea;
made popular in the U.S.A back in 1868,
signed as a national day of observance
back in 1914 by President Wilson.
I can't speak for anyone else
relative to honoring mothers;
sadly some hate their mothers,
some have sad memories,
and millions worship, adore,
love and respect their mother.
Regardless, we all have one
thing in common: We were
birth from a mother. How things
have...

Sacrifice
When I was five years old my mother left me…
With my grandmother so she could come to the land of opportunity,
And though some would think this was abandonment,
It was really a sacrifice she made to obtain a better life for me.
In those formative years when I was raised by my grandmother,
Who was small in size but larger than life with her personality,
Grandma taught me the meaning of respect and the ways of the Lord,
I called her my mother too out of sheer love and propriety.
And for four years my mother worked her fingers to the bone, ...
With my grandmother so she could come to the land of opportunity,
And though some would think this was abandonment,
It was really a sacrifice she made to obtain a better life for me.

The Fortunate Morsel
Mother's Day 2016...Noon: A True Story.
Upon a May morning at breakfast
My lady dined on some scramblege of eggs.
Lovingly blent, so no longer fowl...
She then, with ease, enjoyed the repast.
Then from still drowsy lips fell unchewed dregs,
That stained her blouse and made her scowl.
"Why scowl?" quoth I. "Thy breast was but gently pressed".
Then she said she feared her raiment was wrecked
And tis true that's no way to start the day.
Then I, of the crises, wisely addressed...
"Blame not the morsel upon...

Proteins Folding Into Molecular Origami
We fold along the traumata
Of childhood, the herky-jerky folds
Of puppet arms yanked up
By that inner puppet master
To soften, ward off the blow.
We turn our faces away
From the violence
We do not wish to see
And the cries we do not wish to hear
That originate, at least,
In other throats
And wonder if we’ll ever be loved
Or held until the tormentors go away
And wear our fears in fading stripes
And welts upon the skin
Until gradually it is a thing ...

Onzijnen
Another Dutch/English one:
Er is veel eer gerelateerd geweld
Tegen Syrische vrouwen en meisjes
Mogelijk ook nog femicide
Toch nog sex toerisme reisjes?
Thailand spant de kroon - klinkt morbide
Hoe je als man munt uit hun kruis kunt slaan
Het uithuwelijken is bonafide
Gegadigden komen te voet en gaan
Pijlsnel als ze horen hoeveel geld…..
Beschaving komt al gauw in het nauw
Wie neemt het op voor de Syrische vrouw

There is a lot of honor-related violence ...

The Modern Mom Club
Married,
Divorced,
Single.
A weekly tradition
swapping the events
of overscheduled hours
devoted to nurturing
their offspring.
Precious moments,
few and far between,
where they can shun the tireless role,
sharing a bottle of wine
and their competitive spirits.
An elite congregation,
admired by evolved men
who practice the courtesy
of maternal worship
by allowing them a brief respite
from the constant focus of their kin.
Stroking their faces,
following the creases ...
