Mama
My daughter.
My purple rose.
You are going to have trials
And tribulations.
You are going to have sincere
Smiles and adorations.
You will give your love freely
And it affects you deeply.
Your tears will fall with
Seemingly no end.
The night will call to you
Looking for you to bend.
What I will say to you
With all my heart.
There is reason for you
From the very start.
I needed to love.
I needed to heal.

vanishing world
the vanishing
My fingers itch to write, not about the moon
is a balloon, the title of David Nivens book
if you remember, he was the first James Bond
I refuse to turn on the news, a big ship is
in trouble, setting to sea in stormy weather
on the coast of Norway to give amateur
sailors a thrill and upset stomachs
I have read the news in one of Britain's most
famous newspaper, Palestine wants NATO
to protect them, NATO says they can't because
Palestine is not a member of the alliance
although they bombed Libya, mainly for...

gender
Two genders
when we were toddlers, we played in the sandbox
and hide and seek, we didn't think about whose
gender we were
a few years later, the girls refused to play with
us boys, we were too active climbing walls
and they went back, playing with dolls, I presume
doing needleworks
A few years later, we realized they were girls
they strutted down the street arm-in-arm
haughty as one gets
Near them were silent, blushed like the girls
knew what we were thinking
When one of the boys confessed he had kissed
a girl we...

we who loved America
We who loved America (second part)
I enjoyed America and remember touring
a Sunday outside Houston (Texas), met in a café
a group of openly armed, elderly men
they were courteous people one could meet
I understood guns have cultural meaning
in America, we in Europe don't understand
I remember a saying, "A country where the populace
is armed, people are polite."
I stayed on the ship longer than needed but had
to go home and get educated, I studied management
and later ran a restaurant
I was never at ease in my...
