Scatter-braining
Amid another backyard piss
it suddenly occurred to me
that Pasithea and Attis
might look good on Pluto T.V.
And the unjust have advantage
in our indifferent universe;
harder than ever to manage
when the quislings are getting worse.
But fire, moonlight, and Beach beer,
saw me past the witching hour;
the old Christmas tree crackling near...
with explosive Yule power!
The eldritch adherents of love,
comic scholarship, and ale,
and the sundry mélange thereof,
at midnight...hearty and hale!

When We Cross
I’m often amazed at the insightful musings of others
Not just in their intellect
But also in the spiritual sense of being and understanding
As if clarity has been achieved through the obstacles they’ve faced
Perception comes at different times and different levels
Especially when we’re caught up in those moments of unity
Poetry seems to capture it perfectly
Making our journey through this human experience
That much more fantastic

I place all my hope
between the pages. Forbidden
eyes glance over its covers,
land on the ribbon
bookmark flapping in the wind.
Do they wonder about the sanctity of secrets
that I slip away from sight?
Do they think I have a fancy
shopping list? A hit list?
Do they see: serious writer,
eyes glued to the white space,
pretentious asshole plumbing
the depths of humanity?
Artist with a capital A?
I’m just a girl
with an ever-expanding
desire to capture, to hold
in my tired hands, Life.

To be a poet
To be a poet is to sing with words
When all restraint upon the weary heart departs
When all the beauty of the language flows and flows
And through words we catch but a glimpse of realms of gods
It is no coincidence that the word rhyme
Forms a sweet pair with the word divine
We leave the mortal realm when we turn to the stories told
Through rhymes and rhythms we shall enter a new world
And in this world sweet honey turns to gold
Most precious song to which my soul is sold
In gratitude for every song I forged flees all regret
...
