#Christmas
Christmas poems, poetry offering a variety of perspectives on the Xmas period. Holy Daze
Noel rules with Gloriana grace
Ubiquitously tinseling the boughs
As aether decorates archaic space
With all the gold nostalgia allows;
Some bullion reserved for later days
And silver now in service to the trees
In icy arboreal scintillation glaze
That surely with fresh wistfulness agrees
To show us all that manna such as this
Are kilorads of wild angel wealth
Delivered as that placid Yule bliss
To prove dearth is only that lack of health
Where the more we give is what lets us live
Through stingy seasons...too...

My Parents Last Christmas
It was ten years ago tonight when I went to Sneedville and spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my parents. My ex-friend gave me a ride there and a ride back home the next evening. I took my "Scramble" handheld game with me to play and I also took my cat. Time sure does fly. It doesn't seem like it has been an entire decade since then.
I figured that it would be Dad's last Christmas because he had Leukemia. But I had no idea that it would be Mom's last Christmas as well. Mom died less than three months later and Dad died about seven months later. I wish that I had known that...

Merry Christmas 2022
crimson poinsettias adorn the room
my lips painted a matching shade
I'm all set save one thing you're not here
Merry Christmas lover over hope
I touch your soul and I know God
my immortal love
I seek you early in the morning and at night
sigh to feel your masculine presence
is a thrill to me
I need you in my hollow places
when Midnight is still
I desire your red light to lead the way
a smooth seduction, some slow play
caressing my passion I open up
deck the halls
as we jingle all the way
...

I know there were no angels then
My Annual Christmas poem:
If someone said on Christmas Eve,
"Come; see the oxen kneel,
"In the lonely barton by yonder coomb
Our childhood used to know,"
I should go with him in the gloom,
Hoping it might be so.
Thomas Hardy
I know, despite the comfort of
the hallowed tale,
there were no angels then
who came aloft
upon that ancient Christmas eve
to regions rounding Bethlehem,
and from on high
proclaimed "fear not",
to humbled men,
and spoke of swaddled wonderment
new...

The Beauty Of Eve
She sat quietly sublime
The calm before the storm
Knowing
She'd soon be forgotten
In the turning of a clock
Time, was not on her side
Like Cinderella
At midnight
She'd be gone
Returned
To the dusty cobwebs
Of yesterday
But for one moment
She was it
Her moment of glory
Had arrived
She was the belle of the ball
The one, and all
This was her day
And as she pondered
On her brief existence
She decided
To live for this day
Always the bridesmaid
As the dusty light
Of midnight...

Gypsy Christmas (Collab with KristinaX)
the way you move so mystically.
I can't seem to look away.
it's like I'm hypnotized;
stuck in a trance.
touching your thighs as we start to dance.
I don't usually do this,
I'm a devoted man.
but the pull is too great.
maybe I had too many drinks.
it is Christmas Eve after all.
if only I didn't lose my job the night before.
and my wife hadn't kicked me out.
then I wouldn't be here with you.
let me tell your fortune.
on the cards, or a shaking palm.
try to read my future too.
you only want to know it with me. ...

Cookies for Breakfast
Insomnia steals her focus
the whole of December ~
three long weeks this time.
Tired, she makes her way
to our trailer’s tiny kitchen,
baking her almond spritz cookies
and carefully twisting leftover dough
into puffy candy cane shapes.
I steal my gift from her that year
and learn how to make the best of things.

What Did the Angel Proclaim?
What tidings did the angel give
to Shepherds tending flocks
upon the sleepy hills near Bethlehem?
I note the Gospel does NOT say
that there was born
a babe intent to give them life
beyond the grave.
The context of this story
makes it plain
it was that this small swaddled one
would be a “David’s” son
who’d save God’s people, Israel
from the enslavement
and the depredations,
the taxations and the insults
that they’d known while under
Rome’s Imperium.
For, after all, it cannot be
denied ...

The Quell in The Dell
It comes with every flake of Christmas snow
And every string of multi colored lights;
That rare tranquility here below
The cold skies of the darkest winter nights.
It glides in with those refugee birds
Who at the feeder some provender seek
Much as poets seek some nourishing words,
By parchment, or the way we love to speak...
And therewith hoping to depict the realm
Of gentle Yuletide ebb and flow
Where sovereign peace must ever man the helm
If joy's to be the star of the show,
For Harmony can be a giddy...
