Madame Guillotine...
Culling condemned folk can cause lots of stress
to executors though, they have great tools,
let Madame guillotine end that distress
Of gas, needles, Ol' Sparky, cooking flesh
all that stuff merely entertains the ghouls,

It will end all their doubts no need to guess
dosage, or amps, proof against lib'ral fools,

Silenced Violence
I didn’t know grief had a sound, until it echoed in the silence after the gunshot.
How could something so final, so brutal, happen so fast?
The tears felt so heavy but were pointless. Nothing could remove your bloodstain in the dirt.
I screamed at the ground, but the earth didn’t care,
So, I cursed at the heavens demanding he be spared.
The truth is we stand in a shooting range, and no one even flinches when the bullets start flying.
As kids play on the playground, which would soon be their graveyard.
Like bodies hitting the ground is just background...

HOLDING POEMS PRISONERS
I
once read years ago
that most of us human
beings have one or more
poems held prisoners in
our minds, thoughts and souls.
IN
conversations we affirm quietly
to others, "I have a poem I've
been planning to write", or
scribble it on paper and then
toss it into the trash.
THE
number one reason most poems
are kept in solitary confinement
is we're afraid of what those outside
in the world of "Everybody else's work
is perfect" will say.
DARE
to release the poem or poems

JUDGING A POEM
I
Confess that I am among
the innumerable souls that
dare to venture into the magical
and amazing world of writing
and reading poetry.
I
use to try to write and judge
poems by syntax, grammar,
and all the rules Mrs. Know it All
taught in English 301.
I
use to read the great and
well known poets and conclude
that "I might as well forget trying
to write even a simple poem."
THEN
after years of silence but still
in the corner of my heart there
was the urge to write something,
maybe even...

Cover Up
The truth is
He wasn't mine
He was yours
Sister
Yet I
Was there to protest
And as all of those
Who cried
Professed their love
Most did not provide
Their time
They were not there
To challenge the police
They would not dare
To hold a sign demanding peace
Your supposed grief
I was there
And you
Cried
So frantically
Fell to your knees
At the sight
Of his carcass
Along with all of them
Yet it was her and I
And another girl I...
