The Natural Lottery

Slowly falling pages
wasted money,
futile wagers
and acrid tasting honey.

They've shut the book
hands that disguise
your drowning eyes
now you despise
the risks you took.

Diamonds and hearts
fat fingers that scrunch money
throw their poisoned darts .

Spades and aces
dominoes that rattle
like snakes in venomous cases

The king of clubs
doesn't have a rule
as he plays pool
in bandit flashing pubs ,
unregal
and illegal
he's well marked behind the cigarette stubs.

Russian roulette
who will it get
the barrel spins around,
your ears fear
as you await the sound .

Life the horse race
money the pace
everyday we look right through
its dodgy, invisible face.
