Not Even in my Dreams
I had a dream
That I loved you
You made it seem
Our love was true
She drew near
You pulled away
I wanted you here
But you wouldn't stay
She called you a liar
And you ran after her
Though my heart was on fire
You ran to her faster
I sat there and cried
And watched you two make up
I sat there and died
Then, heartbroken, woke up
My eyes were blurry
And my heart felt funny
But I wasn't in a hurry
'Cause there you stood before me
You asked me what I'd dreamed
I swore I almost told you
But on your side she gleamed
And I knew I'd never hold you
Again I awake
With a terrible fear
I begin to shake
Each shudder bringing tears
I'll never have you
Nor will I gleam
I'll never hold you
Not even in my dreams
That I loved you
You made it seem
Our love was true
She drew near
You pulled away
I wanted you here
But you wouldn't stay
She called you a liar
And you ran after her
Though my heart was on fire
You ran to her faster
I sat there and cried
And watched you two make up
I sat there and died
Then, heartbroken, woke up
My eyes were blurry
And my heart felt funny
But I wasn't in a hurry
'Cause there you stood before me
You asked me what I'd dreamed
I swore I almost told you
But on your side she gleamed
And I knew I'd never hold you
Again I awake
With a terrible fear
I begin to shake
Each shudder bringing tears
I'll never have you
Nor will I gleam
I'll never hold you
Not even in my dreams
