play dead
torn.
doing the normal,
Grateful Dead Radio, same
soundtrack to the first, second
and third beers
as any night after work
but, I got a new ache
one that these well worn tendencies
just ain't gonna satisfy
thought at first Old Crow
or Mumford or Doc Watson
something folky,
something that the story I want to live
might sound like
but that ain't quite right
and the way back Blues
sound too much like the apologies
that I am sick of slinging
the dusty digitals
and big bottom basses
have to wait
I want tonight to weave a rug
rather than cut it
the ganja ran too light for reggae
and the rub-a-dub is tad too upright
for the cleansing tears
that I feel fortifying a question
that has just been answered
by the slowest Stella Blue
that has ever leaked itself free from the
nevermind.

Awesome write and I relate well, being a complete deadhead. There are few emotions I've found that Jerry Garcia can't improve on..Every time I turn on The Dead-I feel better
Hooray for Stella Blue :-)
Nice structure and flow-well penned

nice, thanks miki.
this is pretty straight forward,
I came home
I wanted to write,
didn't know what to write, but had a feeling.
just wasn't sure what it sounded like.

*chuckles*
Most certainly dope smoking music. lol and just "relaxing" music.
Thoroughly enjoyed this LB, and your "never mind" at the end made me giggle a bit. :)

haha, nice...thanks Maggie.
as I said, a pretty straight forward thing.
I struggled mostly with the end and finally realized never mind said it...you think it works with the one word open and close?

I see now why you responded to "singing Hey Mama Rock Me and Stella Blue" ... you get the mood so right here, and fascinating that you'd think to write about it. This one tickled me pink.
Oh, and the title is a winner.
