Indestructible
When I was a child
I thought that I was indestructible,
invisible.
I was dumb,
I was stupid.
For all along it was you,
who was watching over me,
protecting me.
And when you moved
your hand away
from me,
I got wounded,
hurt.
And so I ran to you,
I leaned on you.
I said I was sorry
for being proud,
for being foolish,
for testing you.
You protected me
because you loved me.
I never realized how much
that I need you.
I thought that I was indestructible,
invisible.
I was dumb,
I was stupid.
For all along it was you,
who was watching over me,
protecting me.
And when you moved
your hand away
from me,
I got wounded,
hurt.
And so I ran to you,
I leaned on you.
I said I was sorry
for being proud,
for being foolish,
for testing you.
You protected me
because you loved me.
I never realized how much
that I need you.
