Post Apartheid- Where are we now...

Where are we now?
What have we accomplished and how?
Is the outcome of our genesis, really something to be proud about?
Its about time we look back and take full account of our freedom, coz its been about 20 years now.

20 years since the Referendum.
20 years since 40 million people came together
20 years since our first black President
The Man, The Legend who embodied The african dream- King Nelson Mandela

Power and freedom to the people
he split the keys to one country 40 million ways, equal.
Our Leader, materialized the dream,
From the 40's until then, nobody thought nor believed
That the Majority would govern democratically like it was always meant to be

When we were born our Fathers and moms told us
Your a born king son
Keep your head up
Never let it drop back down
Cause up above us is the stars
For yall skys the Limit but aim alil farther too if you want.

Listening to that blew my fucking mind I was sitting there looking up at the clouds like
Damn sky is the limit for a young brother, then like,
If I shoot for the stars I'll probably end up in heaven with God, Thinking like,
Yeah, ima keep my head up. Shoot for the horizons
Coz down here the snakes slither on their bellys on the ground poised to strike

Its easy to get caught with your head in the clouds
We can only live for so long on fresh air and love
Before reality begins whispering, speaking in hunger pain sounds
The clouds turn dark and you're back to survival mode ducking
and diving mid-flight to dodge the metphoric strikes of lightning and thunder

Media outlets preach us the "We the rainbow nation" gospel
Infecting us with poisonous doctrines and toxins.
Being a young brown brother, I still didn't have no job
And my house was still surrounded by poverty and shanty town clusters
But unto no end have I been promised promises by the tongues of politicians

Rather Ironic, cause,
Here's my brother on TV trying to manipulate my thoughts
Reading from a page that he didn't write but preaches with authority
As if he lives his screen rehearsed ideology

We are the architects of our own downfall
If we don't go to war who's gonna fight for our cause
There aint no fucking glory or applause
In long speeches and cheap talks
No, if we go to war
We have to go to war and we not gonna come back at all
Until we got exactly what the fuck we came for

Equality divided equally, Among-
Each- old and young
Weather we take it in blood
or we take it in love
Is irrelevant, but we ARE gonna get what we want

20 years later its no longer about black or white
Our constitution is the judge of our rights
But now we're staring into the eyes of a new apartheid
Cause its the poor who are the new marginalized
By both black, white and government alike.
Who are our advocates and allies in these times of fiscal apartheid
