Lonely boy...

You can never tell by looking that inside he’s dying
He smiles so bright but even after 25 years…at nights he still cries
No matter what he does…the emptiness expands
Without any reason he suddenly gets sad

He thinks over & over that no one cares
But he never dared to let anyone near
Fearful that they’ll see the monster of terror that plagues his soul
That makes him so damn cold

Peace of mind is one of the things he most craves
Sometimes he wishes his bed was the grave
He tried talking to God but God never seemed to hear
He hit himself thrice times three…thinking that punishment will force the Almighty to care

He stares at the wall as tears fall
Letting the hurt consume his heart
Trying to silence his thoughts
He wonders why….

His mother never let him die
He prefers to be all curled up in the warm dirt
Permanently unconscious…protected from all hurt
To him…living has no worth

….
I wish I could have saved him then
I wish I could have saved all those who felt like him too
But you see in life we try so hard to help others to mend
And no matter what we do…their pain never seems to end

No matter how much you tell them that the bad days will pass
That life was never guaranteed to be easy…that obstacles are the hurdles to success
No matter how much advice you give…in truth even if we’ve been there before
We’ll never know what they’re going through inside

Each human being is unique as can be…
Each of us handles the same issues differently
As much as I tried to help lonely boy
He’s the only one who can allow himself to be saved from his dark times.
