She Once Believed.

Somewhere in the midst
of growing up,
she became lost,
standing in a crowded room
and never feeling so
alone.

Self-doubt ebbs
deep into veins as breath
slowly becomes
lighter and lighter,
harder to catch with each
step.

She once believed in dreams
and now hers are shattered
like broken mirrors,
with an endless soundtrack
of criticism and
imperfections.

She'll find her way again,
eventually
but for now she'll stay lost
under the starlit sky
in a broken world
of lonely comfort.
