DESEGRAGATION
Martin Luther King was a man with a plan
He wasn’t afraid of being slayed by the Ku Klux Klan
We lived a segregated, separated life of poverty
No longer called slaves but we still weren’t free
There was the white mans’ this and the white mans’ that
And if you stepped on a bus you had to move to the back
There was a negative impact imbedded in our minds
Because everything was separated by “Whites Only” signs
We lived in ignorance, and violence anger and confusion
Because blacks were not considered part of the constitution
Because this was the law we felt we couldn’t do a thing
But then a great thing happened named Martin Luther King
He changed, and rearranged and brought us together
And taught us to fight, and reunite to make the world better
To stop living in fear and hiding in the dark
Then the ball got rolling with the actions of Misses Rosa Parks
She got on the bus and started to fuss when they said move back
They called the Po-Po but she let them know she wasn’t with that
They put her in jail but she posted bail
Then the black folks got hot
Martin let them know ya’ll shouldn’t take it no more
So they started a boycott
And he did not play cause from that day they did not ride the bus
And though they feet hurt they walked to work
To let them know they were serious
And it wasn’t funny white folks lost money
And had to negotiate
And because of us not riding the bus
They had to desegregate!
He wasn’t afraid of being slayed by the Ku Klux Klan
