SHARING NEEDLES

He sang along to his own song,
"I'm more at home in my galaxy"
Mr.Shannon Hoon,your voice still strong,
let us make another tragedy.
You fix me,and I fix you,
sharing needles with a ghost.
This tourniquet,much like a noose,
it's going to choke us both.
Well I saw his eyes, between the rolls,
so his spirit still gets high.
"This don't come close,to Heaven's dope,"
he told me with a smile.
I'm sure I'm not his biggest fan,
but who else is up this late?
We spoke of other ones who've passed,
and how it is these days.
He sent away for Mojo Risin,
but old Jimmy wasn't home.
He commented on my paintings behind him,
said they look better when you're stoned.
A few minutes,past 5oclock,
he set down my guitar.
I shook his hand,said"thanks a lot,"
I'm never very far.
Just like that,he fades away,
still singing as he goes.
I'm sure I will be,again someday,
sharing needles with a ghost.
