NIGHTMARE

Trying to deal with the pain
Of losing my baby
My number one lady
I decided to take a ride
Just like the state of Georgia
She is always on my mind.
I put the key in the ignition
Wishing she were in my rearview
Adjusting the mirror so I can get a clear view.
Cruising down the road at a steady twenty-five
Speed limit reads sixty
Cars steady passing me by.
People cursing, steadily blowing their horns
Giving them the middle finger
Wishing they would leave me alone.
Can’t they see I’m hurting?
Love got me sick,
One more rude gesture
And I promise to run someone of the road real quick!
The pain of loving someone then losing them is too much to bear,
I stare down a lonely road
Lost in my destination but still I drive on.
Mind gone,
All I do is think about her
For without her my days are long
Even are my nights
I hit the brakes shocked in fright!
Are you OK?
Someone asks, the front end of my car bent
Not paying close attention to the road
Has caused me to be in a serious accident.
Has heaven sent an angel before me?
For the person asking,
“Are you OK?”
Happens to be my baby,
My love,
My once time lady.
This situation is crazy,
I let out a loud scream.
Awakening in a cold sweat
Realizing I’m having a nightmare, a mere bad dream.
