War Veteran.
Time carves my skin with wounds, that I
dont recall, they dont fade like my memories
but I do love them all.
Amnesia of a lifetime, it only comes in
slivers, and what I see, you will agree,
riddles you with shivers.
My hands are covered with bruisy spots, reminders
of past mistakes, I am lucid enough to know
life was rough, maybe that's why they shake?
I've lost a hair upon my head for every missed
day of church, my back aches, my knees quake,
on a rocking chair I perch.
My breath hisses from my lungs, perhaps they
have deflated? My heart it sputters, weakening,
maybe it's too jaded?
Six-feet below, the glorious sun.
Please, forgive me for what I have done.
Older and older, I fall.
Older and older, we've fallen.
dont recall, they dont fade like my memories
but I do love them all.
Amnesia of a lifetime, it only comes in
slivers, and what I see, you will agree,
riddles you with shivers.
