What He Saw

Soft petalled eyes
winking at me,
broadcasting
wisdom
and smiling so free,

what message
sends this petticoat hand
ribbons
and Baby Jane
tap dancing land?

Why would you offer
yourself to my den,
how could you
open yourself to
this friend?

What makes this
the safest of safe?
How could you even
start out of that gate?

Trust
like a demon
ineffable soul,
begging forgiveness
an osage turned bowl.

Lay down your head
as we watch
the TV,
your head on my chest
asleep on my knee.

All the world
ragged
and wiped
of its charms,
here there is healing
in Little Girl arms.
