A Father's Absence
You were meant to love me,
To care about me,
To always put me first.
But you were busy,
Busy destroying yourself.
You weren't there.
I wanted to laugh with you.
I wanted to get mad at you.
I wanted you to want me.
But all you wanted was another high.
You abandoned those who loved you.
You weren't there.
Your absence left a void,
A gaping hole in my heart.
You gave me up
So I let you go.
You missed your chance.
You'll never be there.

welcome to dup site i hope you have tons of fun here..i lost my father at an early age i was about 14 so outside of reading this marvelous piece i cant say i understand even though i do understand and i agree with the comment above mine. let me say here younger parents perhaps on drugs don't care about their children as a family with no drug issues any way a good poem and i hope to see more poems from you
