The Last Metropolitan

While monsoon is breaking its previous records,
The capital is building up for the game.
Too many slips instead-
Heaps of debris excavating your un-predictable life,
City life and its troubles, a war between our past and present,
That makes the promise for our future.

Real estate surging like a bonfire,
There is no place to live for.
An old residence shaken more than an earthquake-
By the Korean bogies of the metro rail corporation,
That diminished the travel schedule quite proportionally,
To a few million breaths short of an ailing grand parent.

The hanging flyovers failing to come down,
Reflects only mankind attempts to fight for heaven.
The stadiums shy of grasses in the floodlights-
Are similar to the site of a multi-level parking,
With their dig- out coffins without any warnings,
Tilted lamp-posts compromising the lost habitats of snakes and gooses.

Water logged up to the knee heights,

Even in the planned parts, forget about the interiors.
Hours of traffic jams has nothing to do with the waiting souls-
The question seems bigger, “can we look like a Barcelona or Seoul?”
While monsoon is breaking its previous records,
The capital is building up for the game.

A sacrifice for mankind as the basic theme of the composition, this
one is a sympathetic voice of a too fast developing city’s dwellers when they are required to match its requirements all of a sudden without any planning or warning. A metropolitan that is hosting a national event and is a promise to stand as a global promise is ignoring the pangs of its own residents, is actually sounding sarcastic. A metropolitan which is lagging behind in the race, and is leaving us with full of troubles and future projections and to be called itself, “The Last Metropolitan”, without any further choice.
