I Only Ask For Honest Pay

she laid me off without a care, my welfare

was of no concern
at no point of return

my paper is short and pulling capers
only means a visit to court

that's never an enjoyment

I only ask for honest pay
my livelihood is approaching destroyment

no employment for a year, it's been awhile
since I bought gear

avoid crowds, stay home and
drink beer

too much pride for a tear
times is severe

so much anxiety, in a cold society
trying to keep on the path of sobriety

from day to day, I search for honest pay
