Sitting on the porch as we play
Sitting on the porch with my son
I'll be sitting till his mother comes
Watching butterflies fly in
And we watch 'em fly away again
Sitting on the porch as we play
he was cryin when she went away
We're just sitting on the porch as we play
Spendin' time
She left for work in the mornin'
Headed in the hospitals way
Gave him somethin' to long for
he's been lookin' for 'er to come home today
so were just gon sit on the porch as we play
he was cryin when she went away
were just sittin on the porch as we play
spendin time
THE LOOK THAT,
we both exchange
when you pull up into the driveway
YOU CAN TELL JUST,
how much we love you
he smiles as you call out his name
he mouthes you " ma ma" intones
And his families complete that your home
these two handsome smiles you're shown
just reflect the smile of your own
Now were just gon' sit on the porch as we play
He was cryin when you went away
oh we just sittin on the porch as we play
spendin time
(Inspired by a picture of a father and his baby boy.
