Who Am I?
Who Am I?
Do you dare to ask?
I have yet to tell my story
It is long and filled with sorrow
My story is full of horrors of the night
Do you dare to ask?
I have no time and it’s deemed very boring
It is long and as said by my Spanish nurse “No es claro”
My story is famous yet is not in sight
Do you dare to ask?
I was abused by my father
And I nurtured my mother through it all
My sister was not to be found
Do you dare to ask?
Some believe that I leave out the happiness but I cannot be bothered
I held her hand until she said I was about to smother
I looked, I screamed but there was no sound
Do you dare to ask?
At 19, I learned what it was to say no
I smoked my way through college
The burning for knowledge has never left my mouth
Do you dare to ask?
At 20, I fell so low
I nearly died and yet I was the only to acknowledge
And I dumped my boyfriend for never going South
Do you dare to ask?
It’s been a long journey
And I have only just begun to heal
Won’t you stay?
Do you dare to ask?
I argue like an attorney
And swear like a sailor but I’m always at the keel
Just listen and learn to lay
Do you dare to ask?
I don’t want to say
I don’t wish to talk
It should only be recounted once and never said again
Do you dare to ask?
I keep everyone at bay
I tell everyone to take a walk
I won’t even email. I dare not press send.
Do you dare to ask?
I have yet to tell my story….
