Weary Soliloquy
I’ve feared for too long
That I was weak
And that strength
Was merely an illusion
That time not remembered
Was wasted and forgotten
And what I could recall
Was never enough
That love was dead
But still trudging on
And loss was all
I would ever obtain
That all this wasn’t real
And I’ve been asleep
For all of these years
Unable to awaken
But I’m not afraid anymore
I’ve drawn a worthy breath
Closed my tired eyes
And woken up
That I was weak
And that strength
Was merely an illusion
That time not remembered
Was wasted and forgotten
And what I could recall
Was never enough
That love was dead
But still trudging on
And loss was all
I would ever obtain
That all this wasn’t real
And I’ve been asleep
For all of these years
Unable to awaken
But I’m not afraid anymore
I’ve drawn a worthy breath
Closed my tired eyes
And woken up
