Lonely Tonight
I’m lonely tonight,
Will you hold me in your arms
Wrap me in your embrace
Keep me from harm?
Will you chase away the emptiness
Make the dark something soft,
Sing me to sleep
Hold my dreams aloft?
Will you lay right here
As I rest my head?
Can I pillow my sleep
With the things that you’ve said?
I’m lonely tonight,
This bed far too hollow,
My serenity lost
Seeking the trail it should follow
Will you write me a lullaby
That abolishes the silence?
Let your fingers touch skin
And erase nightmare violence?
Can I sink away
To the warmth of your presence,
Surrounded and lulled
By your comforting essence?
I’m lonely tonight,
Too tired to fight,
So I’ll lay all alone
And dream of your light.
Will you hold me in your arms
Wrap me in your embrace
Keep me from harm?
Will you chase away the emptiness
Make the dark something soft,
Sing me to sleep
Hold my dreams aloft?
Will you lay right here
As I rest my head?
Can I pillow my sleep
With the things that you’ve said?
I’m lonely tonight,
This bed far too hollow,
My serenity lost
Seeking the trail it should follow
Will you write me a lullaby
That abolishes the silence?
Let your fingers touch skin
And erase nightmare violence?
Can I sink away
To the warmth of your presence,
Surrounded and lulled
By your comforting essence?
I’m lonely tonight,
Too tired to fight,
So I’ll lay all alone
And dream of your light.

The Pleasure Is All Mine. I Love to read your poetry, it reminds me of How I often feel and you write it so perfectly!

It doesn't feel perfect when I put it down. It comes out roughly, tearing and snagging as it comes out. The words always seem to leave behind a path of bloody destruction. But the relief the purge leaves behind is like its own high.

Yeah, I Know What You Mean, I feel like that alot with my writing but ive convinced myself its never going to be perfect in a sense that its flawless, but it is perfect in the sense that the things I find perfect are flawed, but beautifully so.

Beautiful work, these thoughts allow us to truly appreciate the small things we can easily take for granted.
