Valedictorian -
A young man, who's spirit cannot be broken
Looks into the future with extraordinary accomplishments and dreams
Little did we know
His passion for knowledge slowly left along with each exhale
He filled each of his cracks with superficial smiles
But the damage had seeped through to the core
And no amount of maintenance could keep these walls steady
They had to crumble to the floor
Holding secrets as big as the Eiffel Tower
You would think he was stronger with all his power
But he was underneath the umbrage of his own deceit , this reality bought him to his knees
The amount of contraband, he subjected himself to his guilty conscience
He buried himself in his conspicuous addiction
He couldn't stop , just couldn't stop
Excuses and more excuses...
Until he broke under the tension
His life was surrounded by the projection of death wrapping him in it's dark twisted fingers
Stealing knifes at kitchen tables wondering is this all there is to life
Thinking if the horizon would get any more lurid as he looks out the window
Adjusting the rope around his neck
He couldn't see the solution with the blinding overdose of medications and inclination to marijuana
Only seen as a gateway to heaven portrayed by rappers in the industry
And you can see my pain at how lyrics can influence innocent people
We put these artists on pedestals , while their "legendary" flows and lack for the English vocabulary is actually impressive
But while bitches love Sosa , my brother is living off an IV still traumatized at the game these drug dealers play
And you trying to tell me he's gonna be okay
He used to have so many expectations
He was that Fordham university type rockin'
hipster fabric by the night
And this is all that's left
For that valedictorian , you learned a lot to earn that title
But I learned more from you than any man could even fathom
