Bat to a Bird
Beautiful bird why do you moan?
Lying on the ground crying alone!
These sounds of misery I’ve known.
Don’t huff away what thou art showing,
Fearful by thy scars dimly glowing.
The scars that have been mine.
Beautiful bird we are not fine.
My hands of rescue you shun,
This solicitous heart you flung.
O deified shining white dove!
I only want your love.
Words between us desperately roam.
With strange things you break my home!
I didn’t come to take back a loan.
So keep your love flowing,
Sit by my arms and ribs and become my part.
part of the bars that imprison my absent heart.
my beautiful bird don’t leave me and fly.
to this darkness, like a bat, I am slung.
