NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS
A knock at the door
I slide the keyhole tray through,
it's a hidden money tray,
the man on the other side of the door
sticks two twenty dollar bills in it
and I slide the keyhole tray back in,
from the other side of the door
the man asks for a "one and one"
I know what it means;
I stick a twenty sack of weed
and a twenty of coke in the keyhole tray
and slide it back out to him,
another happy customer on his way,
the hourly business watch
at the local drug spot,
a daily gig, pays ten times more
than a job at Walmart,
risk and all to some the money
is worth the fall especially to someone
who's never been caught or done time
in the streets we call it a "bid",
first offense is a slap on the wrist,
besides it beats robbing people
on the street to get a bite to eat,
that's what it means to be
ghetto poverty poor...
it's two pieces of stale bread
with a slice of real life...
