The Mind at Night

My heart is pounding
My blood is racing
I can hear it in my skull

Adrenaline pumping
I can hear the pulsing
Oh, just end it all!

I can't stand this feeling
I can't stand this fear
I can never start healing
If there's still thoughts to hear

What if? What if?
I hate the phrase
What if? What if?
Night and day!

Does it really matter?
Should I be this afraid?
Do I really need to panic?
I couldn't help it anyway

Repeated things,
Repeat, repeat
And a little pill of white
Help take the thoughts away
Leaving those thoughts
What if? What if?!
To plague me another night.

And Woe! Do I dread the night.
