Picture
I hear they say a picture is worth a thousand words
so I ask you why you still have a picture of her?
do you still wonder why it was she didn't stay?
and dream she had the nerve to love you anyway?
I know she ran and left you with your ear to the door
don't forget I picked up your pieces off the floor
and made you breakfast in bed when you were sad
I played humpty and dumpty put you together again
so how come when today I opened that drawer
I found the picture of the girl you adored
when now a days it was me you swore
it's a dirty cold lesson to know it's still her
it's still her, it's still her, it's still her you adore.
I picked up all the glass that had shattered
from the floor, your skin, it didn't matter
and I kissed every bruise and loved each mark
even the ones she left on your heart
and I remember the day you looked at me
said, I think I can be exactly what you need
I was scared to push you but you said please do
she was no more and it was now me and you.
so how come when today I opened that drawer
I found the picture of the girl you adored
when now a days it was me you swore
it's a dirty cold lesson to know it's still her
it's still her, it's still her, it's still her you adore.
the photo in my hands feels like it's ice
of you and her and love in your eyes
and if I'm being honest then I'll admit
you don't look at me how you look at her in it
and while I want to throw it in the fire
I know it's what we have that needs to be burned.
cause you see when today I opened that drawer
I found the picture of the girl you adored
when now a days it was me you swore
it's a dirty cold lesson to know it's still her
it's still her, it's still her, it's still her you adore.
