summer time sadness
I look for your reflection in the details of my cracked nails
and summer chapped lips
as though you’ll crawl out of your sun burnt grave
nourished by the wilting flowers we left in the hope
that you’d remember us after death
You’re a cloud in the sky
the melancholy twinkle in my eye
if heaven exists you’ll be viewing from the wrong side
we’re only asleep when we’re dead
so I must still be dreaming
dying simply to wake up somewhere else
where you’re not making love to sun kissed daisy chains
deep beneath the earth
