BREAK-UP BALLAD
Love’s “bit me in the ass” again,
“Got fingers burned” – both cause me pain.
Then – warm glow, a sense of power;
Now – alone in the “cold shower”.
Is there some abnormality,
That I attract wrong men to me?
Lord, whatever did I do wrong,
To live another break-up song?
When shall I find that man to trust,
Who won’t just use me for his lust,
Nor thinks it makes him a hero
To have more than one on the go,
Nor drinks too much and domineers,
Poisoning days and nights with fears.
Shall I hold out to find that “One”,
Or shall I just become a nun?
Seems only Man who never hurt
Died on that cross, without a shirt!
