My smile a facade
You notice me when I enter
Though only my façade do you see
I smile and join with my act
But you fail to sight my plea
I walk within the group
Joining with those around
Still none seem to notice
My every beseeching sound
None have seen past
This façade flawless
Or even stood and asked
If truly there is solace
For I have shouted
Bared my heart raw
Until intent and want
Failed to show my every flaw
You ask me with a smile
“How are you?”
My reply is contrary to the truth
Yet you fail to see my every clue
Then must I be the greatest actor
Reading lines and speaking this script
Each of my actions so clearly rehearsed
For not a single word have I skipped
Yet will you ever see my heart
Or must I be forever trapped
Caged in this cold façade
Firmly and eternally kept
But my only wish
Is this would finally cease
That all could see me unadorned of this façade
And forever leave me in eternal peace
Though only my façade do you see
I smile and join with my act
But you fail to sight my plea
I walk within the group
Joining with those around
Still none seem to notice
My every beseeching sound
None have seen past
This façade flawless
Or even stood and asked
If truly there is solace
For I have shouted
Bared my heart raw
Until intent and want
Failed to show my every flaw
You ask me with a smile
“How are you?”
My reply is contrary to the truth
Yet you fail to see my every clue
Then must I be the greatest actor
Reading lines and speaking this script
Each of my actions so clearly rehearsed
For not a single word have I skipped
Yet will you ever see my heart
Or must I be forever trapped
Caged in this cold façade
Firmly and eternally kept
But my only wish
Is this would finally cease
That all could see me unadorned of this façade
And forever leave me in eternal peace
