tombstone
This poem is being entered in the You Died Competition
the day i die
and am laid to rest
i want it knowm
i gave life my best
i lived with words
died writing my verse
i loved this life
for better or worse
my last request
i ask if i may
on my tombstone
i want it to say:
here's faithmairee
who finally rests
no more poeing
for this poetess
the day i die
and am laid to rest
i want it knowm
i gave life my best
i lived with words
died writing my verse
i loved this life
for better or worse
my last request
i ask if i may
on my tombstone
i want it to say:
here's faithmairee
who finally rests
no more poeing
for this poetess

Funny how poets always seem to become famous once they have died.
Nicely penned and expressed Faith.

Lovely poem and an enjoyable read. Love the last stanza, and especially:
"no more poeing
for this poetess"
Memorable! :)

Thanks so much, Carlene. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I created the word "poeing" and first used it in my poem "If Singers Sing". Since you like this poem, you might enjoy it, too.

You're very welcome, Faith. Very imaginative creation, on your part, of the word "poeing." Yep. I found "If Singers Sing" and commented. Just wonderful..!! I need to read more of your work. And WILL do! :)
