Frosted Morning
I drove out today
Away from it all
The clutter
the noise
the city lights
and drove
I don't know how long
But I needed to go
I finally found a place
that looked right
that had fresh air
tall dense forest
wandering un-laid paths
the frost crunches underneath my boots
as I climb over the guard rail
and down
into the sparkling forest
to breath in pine
and be surrounded
by nothing man-made
I see my breath before me
as the sun creeps over the horizon
I can't see it
but I can feel it
A small comfort
I walk through the woods
dusted with powered sugar
strong trunks covered in moss
long limbs reaching out
brushing me tenderly
The ground is uneven
But I go through sure-footed
following the sound
of tinkling water
When I find the stream
splashing down
clear and bright
I sigh
pulling off my gloves
and feeling the icy bite
Enjoying the peacefulness
of this beautiful sight
Away from it all
The clutter
the noise
the city lights
and drove
I don't know how long
But I needed to go
I finally found a place
that looked right
that had fresh air
tall dense forest
wandering un-laid paths
the frost crunches underneath my boots
as I climb over the guard rail
and down
into the sparkling forest
to breath in pine
and be surrounded
by nothing man-made
I see my breath before me
as the sun creeps over the horizon
I can't see it
but I can feel it
A small comfort
I walk through the woods
dusted with powered sugar
strong trunks covered in moss
long limbs reaching out
brushing me tenderly
The ground is uneven
But I go through sure-footed
following the sound
of tinkling water
When I find the stream
splashing down
clear and bright
I sigh
pulling off my gloves
and feeling the icy bite
Enjoying the peacefulness
of this beautiful sight
