Bridge Keeper
after the collapse
I picked up one stone at a time
some cut my hands
others smooth and fine
rebuilding the bridge in winter's growl
reassembling the rubble I created
that now lay at my feet
so I just... began
One rock at a time
now I await the ivy
to wind around the structure
giving it age and beauty
the flowers to bloom around the stone ends
waiting for the fragrance of fortuity
spring will birth
I am
The bridge keeper

Like a Phoenix of stones. From a death rises a birth. Very well structured my friend.

What a lovely description of renewal after the fall. This is beautiful Ken. Gives me hope that even burned bridges can be rebuilt, given time and the wish to do so. <3 this.

Thank you. I have learned to close doors and rarely rebuild "bridges" yet some are worth the effort!

great ending!! We ARE our own keepers of how we chose whether to pick up, and rebuild the pieces of a shattered life, or to stay a crumbling pile of rubble. Great inspiration. And great piece.

Spot on. We can't control all the circumstances of our day yet we do have a say in how we respond. :)

love the visions you paint... and yes some "bridges" are worth the effort, if only to get to a better place :)

Expressions of the soul :) No matter the amount of destruction and rubble left behind... we are resilient and life is worth moving forward!
