Little One

The fish swimming, the deer feasting;
the trees, the land peaceful, quiet.
  Yet a disturbance is inevitable.
   Who dares disturb the peace?

A deer, a mother of a little one,
      she eats with her young.
The winter is coming, a hard time,
Yet a shot is heard and she is down.

The little one, a small one, sadness is felt,
Sadness, severe. Scared, the horror, all felt,
   Many feelings, all at once.
The end of his mother's life.

It has come, come time to live alone.
He runs, the hunter watches him run.
The little one wants to attack,
This was his mother after all.

The young one runs, runs and doesn't stop.
Out of breath he becomes and falls to the ground.
This was his mother, his only love.
His mother is gone, he must now live without her.

How will he live? He does not know hot to.
How does he survive the winter? She was to show him how.
He must now learn alone. Fear rises inside him.
This could just be the end of his short life.

The little one, lying upon the ground, feelings of horror,
the little one tries to stand, yet cannot.
The hurt is too much for him.

The time ticks away. An hour, two hours, three.
His hunger gets the best of him, he gets up.
He eats slow, for he feels sick.
Soon the night comes, and he sleeps.

Days go by, he does not feel any better.
The cold getting to him, he does not know what to do.
But his wish is granted when he sees a hunter.
He takes a step toward him, wanting to be shot.
Another step, but no shot comes.
Another step, and the hunter sees him.
They stare, looking into each others eyes.
              A shot, little one bleeds.
Cold, fear is felt. Numbness settles in.
Then it all fades to black.
