Salem

The come-hither of trance demands my fixation
But oh, of delusion I implore this to be
And the writhing of heartbeats in my heels
Give cadence to my dire flight between the trees
A catch, a fall, a fatal flaw
Where the kinship of Earth and instinct delivers me
Dragged, I revive in manacles, manicly
Where skeletons in the closet of Man are stowed
Be it that I would rather be limb from limb
To only flee from the pulpiter with his gnarled grin
Eyes like roiling hell and obsidian teeth
Enforce my advance up splintered stairs
At the crowd's dismay, they lace the noose
And I see them all, seeing me, the horror they bred
