Rivers Path

I walk the path of lost hurt souls, a path of death and skulls
No one with me, only to be alone, and hurt once more
The path made from those before me, their bodies linger underneath me
Skeletons float in a river of blood, smooth and red outlines of those who fell

I walk slowly, for not to fall, to an abyss, endless to all
The river moves slower, as if waiting, waiting for me
I see images, memories lost, flowing with the river, part of it
They flow slowly, changing by each step they move closer, showing me what was once there

I walk with the river, the river my path, skeletons my ground
I walk over those who never succeeded, never got that happiness, the joy they all wanted
My reflection shows red, from the blood of the river, pulling me down, to become part of it
I hold my ground, for I am not ready, I need more time, time to see what comes next

As if they are screaming, I hear it in the distance, I walk in that direction, and with the river I go
It moves me gently, edging me forward, to get closer and closer, as if I need to see it
I stay atop the river, even though I should have fallen in, for the skeletons show a path for my walk
The screaming stops, though I continue on, for no where else to go

The light blue sky has now turned a shade of grey, nor dark nor light
The fog was set heavy, encasing me in a mist, holding me up
Trees surround the river, reaching out for me, their dead limbs try to pull me closer
A dark haze surrounds me, as a skeleton underneath me grabs my leg, pulling me under

I fall, I fall down into the hands of the skeletons, pulling me under, into the river
The river encloses around me, holding me under, as I drift farther under, no light shining through
I start to feel cold, so cold I wonder if I'm dead, but I feel the warm blood flow through me
I open my eyes, only to realize I see nothing, not even the redness of the blood

I stand up, to see I was laying on a soft bed, of what, I do not know
I rub my eyes, starting to see, outlines of bodies, covered in red
Walking around, like I found another path to follow, a path that called for me to follow
Walking over top of the bodies, cold and dead, their expressions showed such sorrow

Their eyes followed me, everywhere I moved, yet they never moved, emotionless yet so full of it
They sky has turned dark, dark red, as if it is filled with the blood of those who lost
I wonder if I will become one, one of them, one who has lost, one never to come back
They await my next move, anxious, as if they will take me under them, to a place unknown, though this is unknown

I walk slowly, taking in my surroundings, waiting for a change once more, but never comes
A silence fills my ears, so silent that it hurts, the need of noise should be
I walk to a light, so bright I can't tell what it is, it burns my eyes
Thought I keep walking, waiting for it to show, show something, I do not know

The ground starts to part beneath my feet, trying to stay atop one side
It shakes and starts to crack, as I start to slide with the broken bodies down to what I can not see
I fall down, and feel the air race to get away from my chest, so it wont have to go with
I hit the ground, yet feel no pain, when it seems as if I fell from hundreds of feet

A redish grey sky over sees me, making me look up, to a dark red moon, as if filled with blood
I look around and see a light in the distance, noticing I appear to be in a grave yard
The light gets closer as I notice there are many stones around, but only five take to my eyes
They surround me, yet five stand in front of me, pulling me closer

They read the names of my family, the light approaches, showing a fire burning
The fire makes scenes, people walking, running, laughing
Turning and staring at me, they show the faces of my family
A nightmare I knew I have walked into, tears flood my eyes

There is one more, one more grave, with no body, yet there is a stone
It reads the name of mine, yet I am still here, or am I
Bodies and skeletons appear from the paths I had taken, taken to come here, taken for I was lost too
walking closer, they come, reaching for me, their faces so sorrowful, lifting me up, into the grave I go

I lay there, waiting, watching, patiently
Close your eyes, the voices whisper to me, it won't be long, till your one of us, then comes a laugh, it fills my ears
I try to stand, stopping me the dirt covers me, taking my breath away with them, they leave me be
To the end of the path I lay, only to rise and leave, now a part of the rivers path, I join them by their side
